Phase Change Materials

Phase Change Materials (PCMs) absorb and release latent heat during the process of melting and freezing (go through a change in their physical state), which are very effective in providing thermal barriers or insulation. For example, in temperature-controlled shipping. When inside temperature increases, phase change materials transform  from solid state at low temperature to liquid state at high temperature,  absorbing large amount of heat, and vice versa.
